By plane

Most important international airports in Mexico are:

  • Benito Juárez de la Ciudad de México International airport
  • Cancun international airport

Flying between these airports to move around the country is cheap, so it sounds like a great option to optimize your transportation timings during your journey in Mexico

By public transport

Public buses are the mean of transport that is used the most to travel between cities in Mexico. The bus gets almost to every part of Mexico. Make sure you get “directo” or direct buses to travel long distances as they do fewer stops than the non-direct. For a 15-hour bus journey the prices are around 75 $ and for a 5-hour bus journey, it is 25 approximately. Some of the most reliable and biggest bus companies are: ADO, Primera Plus. Estrella de Oro and Omnibuses de Mexico.

By car

Due to the usual amount of traffic in the Mexican roads, traveling by car in Mexico could be a little bit dangerous and especially could take long hours. Before hiring a car and deciding to travel by car in Mexico, I advise you to consider the option of traveling by public bus. It will make your journey much rested.

One of the most famous typical foods in the world is the Mexican spicy food and here you will find a recap about the tastier dishes Mexico has:

5 things to do in Mexico

Visit the City of Mexico

Crowded city but still worth a visit, the capital of the country has a lot of special things to offer. Starting with the markets of Sorona or La Merced and ending shortly before the Zocalo. There is not a better way of learning about a country’s culture and people than its markets. that is why it is a must to visit for me every time I visit a new country. Sorona and La Merced are 2 very special markets where you will be able to buy these traditional ingredients to prepare the amazing Tradicional food of Mexico such as local chilly and spices.

San Cristobal de las Casas

In my opinion, the most beautiful city in Mexico and a must-to-see. This bohemian city is known as the magic town due to its bohemian environment and colonial buildings. Perfect to spend 2 to 3 days resting and enjoying their special city life!

Valladolid Cenotes

Here is the place if you are planning to see the most special and unique cenotes in Rivera Maya. Another reason why I love this place is that is not as full of a tourist than other touristic places in Mexico. Do not wait more and start planning your journey to the least crowded cenotes in Valladolid

Yukatan peninsula

I assume you’ve probably heard already of the Mayas and Aztecs, 2 of the most known civilizations who lived on the Yukatan peninsula 3000 years ago. Their history and remain architecture and stories are incredible and learning about them is the best way to start understanding all their traditions and way of living. Probably the most well conserved architectonical areas are Teotihuacán and Chichén Itzá, really amazing!

Visit Tulum

Located Rivera Maya, is one of the most visited places in Mexico. There are two main parts that make this 2 to 3-hour visit incredible. First of all the ancient Maya city with its iconic castle in the middle is impressive. Moreover, the beach of the ruins is incredible! It may be crowded some times and especially in high season. Try to go very early in the morning or rather late in the afternoon to avoid crowds.
